Italian washing machines are generously equipped with programs and modes - all for user convenience. To make “communication” with the device as convenient as possible, all washing modes in the Indesit washing machine are displayed on the control panel. What does Indesit offer?

Mode is a process characterized by certain conditions. The temperature, drum rotation speed, time and goal vary. A program is a specific procedure, which, differing in washing conditions, can consist of several modes.

Basic

Cotton. T-shirt or cotton box drawn. The user can select options with different temperatures and durations:

90–95 degrees is a good option if you need to wash stained kitchen towels. The drum is fully loaded. And the cycle time is almost 3 hours.
60 degrees. With intensive washing, the process is shorter, since the soaking step is eliminated. Duration is reduced to 2.5 hours. This option is chosen for heavily soiled white items - tablecloths, towels, bed linen.
40 degrees. Recommended for colored products. Duration - about 2.5 hours.

Synthetics. A flask with temperature indication is shown. There are two options:

60 °C - 1 hour 25 minutes.
40 °C - gentle version, lasting 1 hour 11 minutes. Loading - 50%. This is usually 2.5–3.5 kg, depending on the model.

Wool. A skein of thread is drawn. For wool and cashmere items. Duration - 55 minutes. Temperature: 40°C. Spin speed is reduced.
Silk. The picture shows a T-shirt. For curtains made of thin fabrics, for viscose and underwear. They are washed at 30°C for 55 minutes. Load the drum by about 20% - up to 1–1.5 kg. There is no spin.

Some models may contain separate modes, without an emphasis on fabric. Washing available:

Preliminary. Use instead of soaking. Gently rotate in slightly warm (30 °C) water.
Daily (everyday) is a standard program for quickly washing lightly soiled items.
Intense. For cotton and linen. Hot water - up to 95 °C. This is an analogue of “cotton 90 °C”.
Delicate - similar to “wool”. You can wash completely different fabrics that have one thing in common - special requirements for process conditions. Wool, organza, lycra and other delicate materials are washed at 40 degrees.

Additional

They are chosen for specific items, taking into account the fabric and degree of contamination:

Jeans. The icon matches the name. Created specifically for denim products. Wash at 40 degrees. Loading - up to 2.5 kg. Drum speed is reduced.
Quick wash mode. The picture is a clock. The express version allows you to wash things in a quarter of an hour. Loading - about one and a half kg. Temperature: 30°C.
Shoes. The picture shows a sneaker. Designed for sports shoes - sneakers, suede sneakers. Wash in lukewarm water, two pairs at a time. Cycle duration: 50 minutes.
Sportswear. There are models with two options - regular and intensive. The water is heated to 30 °C. Time - 1 hour 20 minutes.

SMA "Indesit" also has special functions:

additional rinse - intuitive designation - variations on the theme of drops and a basin of water;
spin - a pattern in the form of a twisted spiral;
Eco Time - reduces time and water consumption. Compatible with synthetics and cotton 40.
easy ironing - iron drawn;
delayed start - icon with a clock.

Special

Additional, also called special programs, are found on the latest models of cars. Such programs involve washing a certain type of clothing. Here is their list:

“Jeans” program - washing denim products at a temperature not exceeding 400C, with a load of no more than 2.5 kg and at reduced spin speeds.
Express 15 is a quick wash mode for 15 minutes, which allows you to refresh no more than 1.5 kg of laundry at a temperature of 300C.
Important! It is prohibited to wash silk and wool in the Express 15 cycle.
Sports shoes - with this mode you can wash sneakers, sneakers made of suede and fabric. The heating temperature is only 300C, loading no more than two pairs per wash cycle. The process lasts 50 minutes.
Sportswear is a delicate wash of sportswear at 300C for 1 hour 18 minutes. The machine drum load in this mode is approximately 2.5 kg.

Additional functions of a washing machine of this brand also include:

additional and gentle rinsing;
spin;
drain without spinning;
Eco Time – this function will reduce washing time by optimizing water consumption. The function is compatible only with one of the cotton washing modes and synthetic washing modes.

How to choose a mode

The choice of washing modes is carried out using the programmer knob. The program numbers are indicated around the handle, and the decoding of these programs is given on the left side of the washing machine. On very old models there is no verbal decoding, but there is a decoding in the form of symbols that should be intuitively clear. The picture below shows such a control panel for an Indesit machine.

In the column on the left, numbers from 1 to 7, programs for washing cotton products are offered. In the next column, programs numbered 8 to 10 are programs for washing synthetics. In the last column (on the right) program number 11 is a delicate wash.

Icons numbered 5 and 12 are rinsing, numbers 6 and 13 are watering, 7 and 14 are temperature, number 15 is drainage.

The photo below shows another control panel of the Indesit machine. It has the following functions (circled in red):

pre-soaking;
easy ironing;
delayed start;
additional rinse.

Thus, the peculiarity of the modes of Indesit washing machines is that they are all divided into two or three groups, regardless of the machine model, and are numbered. These are programs for washing cotton, synthetics and special modes. What buttons and selectors are there?

Any Indesit SMA has the following elements on the control panel:

Program switch. There are icons on the panel, duplicated with pictures. The consumer turns the selector to select the desired option.
Temperature switch. If the user selects a specific program, the temperature is set automatically. But thanks to the selector, you can adjust the water heating.
Speed switch. The rotation speed of the drum can also be changed - in any direction.
Start/stop or on/off button. Activates and deactivates the machine. Near the button there is an LED indicating the state of the device.

Also on Indesit machines, depending on the model, there are additional buttons:

50% load. It is pressed if you need to wash several items. Saving water and electricity.
Reducing the spin speed. Use for delicate fabrics.
Super rinse. For thorough rinsing.
Cold wash. For delicate materials and not very dirty things.
Disabling spin.

General recommendations

An Indesit brand washing machine is traditionally not burdened with unnecessary electronics - touch panels, remote and voice control, wide color displays. On the one hand, this makes it somewhat old-fashioned and unattractive for lovers of modern gadgets, but on the other hand, it makes it much cheaper, and therefore potentially more attractive to consumers.

The lack of newfangled electronics does not lead to the fact that the washing machine begins to wash worse; rather, on the contrary, its control module is simpler, and therefore more reliable. But the quality of washing depends not only on the equipment, but also on the users who turn it on and set it up, so to get the best results it is very important to use the Indesit washing machine correctly. To begin with, here are some general recommendations that it would be nice for everyone to know.

When placing laundry in the drum, be sure to sort it. It is necessary to take into account not only the color (white/black), but also the fastness of the paint, the type of fabric, and the presence of loose elements.
Before putting new items into the drum of your Indesit washing machine that have not yet been washed, check their identification labels. Usually, if an item cannot be washed or can be washed, but in a special mode, the manufacturer makes appropriate notes on its label. Always check the pockets of clothing items you place in the drum. Any needle, pin or paper clip that gets inside your Indesit washing machine can seriously damage it. Not many people will feel better if you wash your passport or credit card in the machine, so it’s up to you whether you want to start such a healthy habit or not.
Always check that the buttons on the clothes you are going to wash are secure and fasten all zippers. And clothes with plastic zippers are generally best washed in a special bag.
For best washing results, it is better to turn T-shirts, shirts, sweaters, jackets, pants, socks and other clothes inside out.
To better balance the drum, do not wash many large items at once, divide the wash into two or even three batches and mix large items with small ones.

For your information! You cannot wash very large items alone. Place a couple of small items with them - the washing result will be much better.

Do not use hand washing powders as they will cause excessive foaming.
Place detergents in the tray correctly. Each type of detergent has its own powder receptacle compartment: the first compartment for pre-wash, the second for the main wash and the third for rinse aid.

If you wash clothes without heating the water, then you need to put in half as much powder. Otherwise, it will not dissolve and will be removed along with waste water - money down the drain.
The choice of washing program is carried out only when the Indesit washing machine is stopped. Violation of the rule may result in damage to the control module.

Popular programs

Like any other washing machine, the Indesit washing machine has quite a few modes in its arsenal, which people use quite rarely. This always happens, we use some modes 2-3 times over the entire life of the machine, and some we use constantly. Our Italian partners conducted a survey of users of Indesit washing machines and found that they most often use the following programs:

heavily soiled white clothes (number 1 on the program selector);
mixed things (number 3);
colored things (number 4);
moderately soiled non-fading synthetics (number 9);
wool (number 14).

If you need to wash heavily soiled white items, use the program selector to select washing mode 1. Then use the temperature selector to set either MAX or 900C. You can also set it to 600C if you don’t need to boil things, but no less.

Under the number 3 on the control panel toggle switch, the Indesit automatic washing machine has the most popular and universal program, which is called “mixed items”. It can be selected when you need to wash faded colored items at 400C or when you need to wash non-fading colored or white laundry. In this case, the range of set temperatures is 50-600C.

When washing with an Indesit machine, users often use the “colored items” mode, which is indicated on the selector by the number 4. The popularity of this mode is explained by the fact that it is fast and can wash lightly and moderately soiled items at a temperature of 400C. At the same time, despite the name of the mode, it can wash both colored and white items.

It is better to wash synthetic items on a cycle of nine at a temperature of 50 degrees, but for wool there is nothing better than mode number 14.

Be careful! In the “wool” mode, you can only wash woolen items that are allowed to be washed by their manufacturer. If there is a symbol on the label of a woolen item that prohibits machine washing, it cannot be washed in any program.

Selectors and buttons

We have dealt with popular programs; if you are interested in the characteristics of all washing modes, take a look at the instructions for your washing machine model, although this is not necessary. You can simply try each of the less popular washing modes over time and draw a conclusion about their suitability.

Let's start with the main elements of the control panel, which are found on every model of Indesit brand washing machines.

Program selector. The most important part of the control panel, which allows you to turn the knob to select the desired washing mode.
Temperature selector. When selecting a washing program, the control module automatically sets the drum rotation speed and water temperature, but all this can be adjusted. The temperature selector provides just such an opportunity.
Speed regulator. Using this element you can adjust the speed of rotation of the drum.
On/off button. It is necessarily present on all models of Indesit washing machines; with its help we activate or deactivate the washing machine.

For your information! Usually, the LED indicator, which is located next to the on/off button, notifies us that the Indesit washing machine is turned on.

Now let's look at the options for additional buttons that may be present on the control panel of the Indesit washing machine. Here are the buttons with a brief description.

Half load of laundry. This button helps you save water and energy when you wash small amounts of laundry.
Reduced laundry load button. This button is a complete analogue of the previous one and helps to save water, electricity, and powder. These buttons can be indicated by a weight or inscriptions as in the figure below.
A button that helps reduce the spin speed. Usually indicated by a spinning laundry icon. The spin speed often needs to be reduced when washing cotton and linen items.
An enhanced rinse button, which is indicated by the inscription “Extra Spulen”. Some fabrics require more water to rinse properly, in which case this button will come in handy.
Cold wash button. Needed in case you need to rinse not very dirty clothes or wash delicate fabrics. By pressing the button you activate the wash without heating.
Economy mode 600C. Pressing this button does not allow heating water above 600C.
Disabling spin. Pressing this button turns off the spin cycle. Indicated by the inscription "EXCLUSION CENTRIFUGADO".
A button that allows you to stop the washing machine with water. The name of the button speaks for itself. Indicated by a picture of a shirt immersed in water.
