Washing modes

Whirlpool washing machines

, as on models from other manufacturers, there are different definitions and pictograms, each of which has its own designation.
applied by the Whirlpool
to washing machines are divided into 4 groups, the set of each of which depends on the model of the machine. These are sets of settings available to the user, which he can apply or not, and change specific parameters at his own discretion.

The instructions supplied with the washing machine explain in detail all the meanings of the symbols and pictograms, as well as the purpose of the buttons and controls present on the screen or control panel of the device.

Distinctive icons for the Whirlpool :

  • Basin in the middle with the letter R – quick wash mode;
  • symbol is rinsing;
  • 2 shower symbols, one above the other - additional rinse;
  • Letter E – economical program;
  • Pen icon – delicate cycle with gentle settings.

Whirlpool washing machine panel contains:

  • Program selector;
  • Drum spin speed control;
  • “Start”, “Pause” and “Cancel” buttons;
  • Buttons for additional functions, it all depends on the model.

Whirlpool Company

always provides images with symbols and icons of all programs available on a particular machine with appropriate explanations.
icon relates specifically to the washing process.
With their help, the device turns on or off. Using the indicator lights that light up in turn, the user is able to track the intermediate stages of each cycle. Similar indicators reflecting the ongoing stages include symbols indicating:

  • Start of the program;
  • Preliminary program;
  • The device performs a cycle in a traditional, simple design;
  • Start rinsing things;
  • Possibility of starting an additional rinse;
  • Water drain from the tank;
  • Wringing out clothes;
  • Drying mode;
  • Completion of the unit's planned tasks.

The listed symbols help the user to very quickly determine the current stage of the washing process by looking at the line of icons and the corresponding lighted indicator on the screen.

Modes on Whirlpool machines bear the designation of a pelvis with added elements that decipher the purpose of the symbol:

  • Cotton – for washing fabrics made of cotton and linen that are resistant to boiling;
  • Synthetics - this refers to the washing of unnatural origin of things that do not require special care;
  • Wool - for things that, due to their original origin, in most cases are deformed from high temperatures;
  • “Fast” or “Mixed mode” – short cycle. For the most part, for any kind of thing;
  • “Denim” or “Jeans” – for denim products;
  • Delicate mode - for pleasant fabrics, for example, cotton silk, silk, etc.;
  • Clothes for children - boiling is necessary when washing clothes for children;
  • Rinse mode – the process of cleaning things from residual powder and detergents;
  • Spin – applied with different intensity, depending on the type of fabric being washed. Dense fabric is wrung out at the highest speed, but items made from soft fabrics, silk or lace are not recommended to be wrung out at all.

Before washing, the temperature setting is set. Either automatically or manually, which depends on the capabilities of the washing machine model. The spin mode is formed according to the rotation speed of the drum, and it is possible to select a rotation speed lower than that prescribed in the program.

Additional drawings

Different Whirlpool models have different functionality. Each function is indicated on the control panel with its own special icon. If the manufacturer wants to convey important information to the consumer for advertising purposes, he also places it on the body of the washing machine in the form of symbols. True, you can decipher these symbols yourself without additional instructions.

So, if you have a delay timer, you will see a square on the machine with the word TIMER written inside and a number - 8, 12, 24. The number means the time for which the start can be delayed for a specific model. If your washing machine boasts a low noise level, then the manufacturer will mark this point in the form of a square with a sound wave inside and the inscription “very quiet”. The imbalance control is a square with a circle and a double-sided arc-shaped arrow inside.

additional functions

“Easy Ironing” is depicted as an iron bounded by a square. There are two dots on the body of the iron, and a pair of horizontal lines under the sole. The drum capacity looks like a weight with a designation of the maximum possible load weight in kilograms. And an additional rinse is marked with a container of water and a right-handed arrow-arc located above it. “Foam control” - a very convenient function that allows you to remove excess foam and detergent from the drum using a special pump - is represented by a square filled half with water and half with soap bubbles.

additional functions

In addition to auxiliary symbols, on the Whirlpool panel you can see the designations of washing programs (12 in total). Above in the figure we presented their image. Let's try to decipher them briefly:

  • cotton - for cotton and linen items that are resistant to boiling;
  • Eco cotton - economical program, with increased cycle time and reduced water and energy consumption;
  • synthetics - for mixed and synthetic materials, implies loading things that do not require special care;
  • thin fabrics - delicate wash, with minimal spin and temperature no more than 30 degrees;
  • wool, silk, jeans, curtains - for corresponding fabrics and items of clothing;
  • sports - we wash sports shoes at a low temperature with a slow rotation of the drum.

When washing sports equipment, it is better to use a special gel rather than a standard washing powder.

The “Five Shirts” mode (the icon in the form of a folded shirt) will allow you to quickly wash 5-6 shirts at 30 degrees. The Blankets program is needed to load duvets. There are also additional icons that suggest the presence of rare washing modes or individual functions. To understand them, please read the instructions carefully.

Synthetics

In this mode you can wash different fabrics, temperature from 30 to 60 °C. Wash in 85-100 minutes.
