What types of activator-type washing machines are there?
The simplest model of small-sized “washing machines” is capable of performing the main washing cycle and, after changing the water, rinsing. Some manufacturers produce Malyutka washing machines with a spin cycle, while more modern models have heating.
Products with a spin function can be equipped with a removable centrifuge, which is installed in the tank of the machine, or have two separate tanks - one for washing and rinsing, the other for spinning.
The delivery package for activator-type washing machines includes a hose for manual draining of water and a stand.
Expert advice
If you have planned a repair, and after disassembly you will also need to reassemble the SM, then do not forget to capture your every step in a photo. It’s difficult to remember where each part was, much less the location of the wiring. The photo will help you put the Baby back together without any problems. Also, do not use too much force when working with the tool. The “delicate” plastic case and rubber gaskets are not very resistant to damage. Rubber components can easily be damaged by careless movement of a sharp screwdriver, and pliers can tear off the edges of the fasteners. This will only add unnecessary hassle to you. Be careful, successful repair! Finally, we recommend a video. It will help you figure out how to disassemble the Malyutka washing machine:
Main characteristics of washing machines of the “Malyutka” type
Depending on the volume of the tank, the load of compact washing machines is from 1 kg to 3.5 kg.
All modern models operate in reverse mode. This allows you to avoid twisting of the laundry, due to the fact that the motor changes the direction of rotation of the activator blades.
Most manufacturers produce Malyutka washing machines with energy consumption characteristics of A+ or A++.
Many models are equipped with a filter to collect fluff or lint, which significantly improves the washing result.
Some machines allow you to wash in two modes – normal and delicate.
Operating principle and device
Classic Malyutka washing machines consist of a tank into which laundry is loaded, an activator, the rotating blades of which ensure the washing process. The engine starts the process, and the duration of the wash can be adjusted using a control module, which is a simple time relay.
The motor is protected from voltage surges in the network by a capacitor.
More modern models have an electric heater for heating water, but the principle of their operation is the same as that of the simplest products.
The most common breakdowns
“Malyutka” refers to devices with an activator, due to which its design is characterized by maximum simplicity. The principle of its operation is that the rotation of the electric motor rotor is transmitted to the activator - a specially shaped disk that mixes water and laundry in the tank.
This machine cannot boast of an abundance of washing programs, nor the presence of at least some kind of automation. Actually, the only thing that can be adjusted in the operation of the device is to set the washing time. The built-in timer will automatically turn on and off the engine at the right time.
Since the machine is simple, the list of possible faults is not very wide. Among the most common breakdowns:
- the engine hums for a long time and only after a while the activator begins to rotate;
- the activator disk rotates slowly and often stops;
- During operation, the device makes a loud noise and tears clothes during the washing process;
- water leaves the housing or drain hose;
- the car does not turn on and does not respond to the owner’s actions;
- the hum of the engine is heard, but the activator does not spin;
- The car turns on, the engine starts to run, but soon stops, and there is a smell of burnt wiring.
The reasons that led to the occurrence of malfunctions are also not very diverse. Actually, all breakdowns can be divided into problems with the activator, with the electrical part and housing parts.
How to use an activator washing machine
Starting a wash in a compact washing machine is easy. The instructions for the Malyutka washing machine are as follows:
- Install the equipment in the bathroom or other convenient place.
- Remove the lid from the tank and fill with warm or hot water, depending on the type of fabric.
- Add washing powder and mix.
- Place dirty laundry in the tank and close it with a lid.
- Use the toggle switch to adjust the wash duration.
- Plug in the Malyutka washing machine.
- After the wash is finished, unplug the appliance and remove the laundry.
- Using the supplied hose, drain the water into a bathtub or bucket.
- In order to rinse washed items, pour clean cold water into the machine, fold the laundry and set the rinsing time.
- Connect the “Malyutka” to the electrical network.
- After the rinse cycle has finished, remove the wash and drain the water.
- In washing machines with a spin cycle, you need to install a special centrifuge in the tank and fold some of the laundry into it. Set the spin time and turn on the device.
- After the spin cycle is completed, unplug the washing machine and remove the laundry.
What are mini cars?
Mini cars are relatively small and lightweight devices. The functionality of the units is reduced to a minimum - it is only washing or washing with a spin.
Nothing is automated, everything has to be adjusted manually, but you can wash clothes in a few minutes.
Mini washing machines got their name (Baby) precisely because of their small size and lightness. Thanks to its light weight and size, the strength of the case and the absence of the need to connect to an electrical network or water supply, you can even take the Baby with you to the dacha or move it to another apartment.
Although the designs have gone out of fashion, they are still very popular among housewives who are accustomed to saving money and being content with minimal functionality. There are not many such units in household appliance stores, but there are still manufacturers who produce entire lines of this type of equipment to order.
If you love to do laundry, don’t waste time on housework, want to save money and at the same time keep things clean - Malyutka is exactly what you need. Moreover, choosing a place for it will not be difficult in any corner of even a small apartment.

Design of the washing machine Malyutka 2
The Malyutka-2 washing machine consists of a tank 9 (Fig. 1), a tank cover 8 and a casing consisting of two halves 25 and 31 with rubber gaskets 30 and 20, fastened together with screws 26 and 29 with bushings 28. Screw heads are closed with rubber plugs 27. The casing contains: an electric motor 32, a relay 17, a capacitor 22 and a switch 33, which is attached to the casing with a nut 35 with a washer 34 and a rubber nut 36. The connecting cord 47 passes into the casing through a rubber safety tube 48.
The casing has a threaded flange 12 onto which the housing b of the activator 2 is screwed. A cuff 5 is installed in the flange to prevent liquid leakage. An activator is screwed onto the electric motor shaft. Flange 12 is attached to the electric motor using screws 11. The sleeve 37 of the tank drain hole is either closed with a plastic plug 41, or, if necessary, a drain tube 44 with a nozzle 43 is put on it for attachment to the tank of the machine. A tip 45 is attached to the other end of the drain tube. The threaded bushing is attached to the tank with a plastic nut 40 with a rubber ring 39. A gasket 38 is installed on the threaded bushing.
The machine kit includes a hose-tube 46 and tongs 42. The tank lid has a seal -1. The activator support consists of a plastic housing 6, a steel bushing 7, a rubber cuff 5, a steel spring 4 and a rubber gasket 3. A rubber ring 10 is installed between the activator housing 6 and the flange 12. A rubber bushing 14, a plastic nut 13 and a steel washer are placed on the electric motor shaft 15. Thermal relay 17 is secured with a clamp 16. The capacitor 22 is attached to the platform 23 with clamps 21 and 24 with screws 18 and nuts 19.

The electrical circuit of the washing machine is shown in Malyutka 2 in Fig. 1 on the right.
Advantages of "Malyutok"
Compact washing machines have a number of advantages.
First of all, it is small in size; it can be easily stored in a closet or placed even in a small bathroom.
The simple design of the Malyutka ensures its high reliability.
Such washing machines are easy to transport; there is no need for a cargo taxi, since the device will fit in the trunk of a car.
Another significant advantage of activator washing machines is that they can work in conditions where there is no sewage system. This makes them an excellent option for the garden. Heated Malyutka washing machines will make country life much easier; all you need to do is simply pour cold water into them.
The advantage of compact “washing machines” is the fast cycle of the process - together with rinsing, it will take no more than 20 minutes.
Washing in Malyutka saves not only time, but also electricity and water.
And the price of such washing machines is low, which makes them accessible to all segments of the population.
Disadvantages of activator washing machines
No matter how ideal compact washing machines may seem at first glance, they also have disadvantages.
The main disadvantage is that the simplest models of machines are not suitable for delicate fabrics (silk, wool).
In “Malyutka” you won’t be able to wash large items - bedspreads and blankets, heavy curtains, since they won’t fit into the tank.
The disadvantage is the high level of noise emitted by the machine, and the fact that the washing process must be controlled.
Many models are not equipped with a spinning centrifuge.
But if you choose a model with spinning and heating, then “Malyutka” can fully replace an automatic washing machine.
Advantages
Let us dwell in more detail on the advantages of using such technology.
- A huge positive point that distinguishes Malyutka from other machines is its light weight and small size. The unit weighs 7-15 kg depending on the model. Small weight and dimensions allow you to effortlessly move the machine to the right place. Most housewives prefer to place the machine under the sink and use it instead of a cabinet;
- Unlike automatic machines, all Malyutok models are very economical: even with washing and spinning together, they consume less electricity than an automatic machine spends only on the washing cycle;
- It is also worth mentioning the duration of work. While an automatic machine will wash clothes in an hour, Malyutka will do it in 7-20 minutes. You will have to do the rinsing yourself or do it in the wash cycle. Spinning, if it is included in the design of your model, will also take a little time - no more than 5 minutes;
- Also in this type of machine you can choose one of two modes: normal or delicate;
- Many also note that while the internal parts of automatic machines quickly become unusable due to water hardness and the use of aggressive detergents, this does not happen with the baby. You can pour any water into it - it will not affect the operation in any way. You don’t have to buy expensive products to prevent machine parts from deteriorating;
- For small-sized and rented apartments, such installations are also good because they do not need to be connected to the water supply. Filling the tank with water is done in the usual way - through a hose or with a ladle. Draining is done through a hose. It is also not at all necessary to provide a special outlet for the machine in the bathroom - it is enough to use an extension cord if necessary if you do not do laundry every day.
