Robot vacuum cleaner for window cleaning: selection rules + review of the best models on the market

Greetings to all! In my review today we will talk about the best robotic window cleaners. These compact devices take on the tedious, and if the window is located at a significant height, dangerous work of cleaning glass. These devices can be used both indoors and outdoors, which makes them indispensable assistants in keeping windows clean. In this review, I will introduce you to the best models of these devices and their characteristics. Begin.

Window cleaning robots. A selection of 10 models in round and square shapes. Are windows cleaned properly?

For this rating, I selected 10 popular window cleaners, which can be divided into two types: square and round. Moreover, this applies not so much to the shape of the case, but to the type of napkins used. Washers with round napkins (mops) cost from 13 to 18 thousand rubles; they are suitable for small windows with heavy dirt. Washers with square microfiber will cost more – in the range of 20–30 thousand. They work well on large windows and clean areas along the window frames better.

10 window cleaning robots

Hobot 298 Ultrasonic

Official shop

Hobot 298 Ultrasonic belongs to the class of square washers. A 4-sided microfiber is attached under the bottom of the robot, with which the robot wipes the glass. The trunk is held on a vertical surface by vacuum vacuum, and the caterpillars are responsible for movement. If the power goes out, Hobot 298 Ultrasonic will hang on the glass for another 20 minutes, waiting for it to be moved to a safe place, and if no one comes to help, the robot will fall powerlessly and hang on the safety cord. The compact dimensions of the base (24 x 24 cm) allow the washer to cope even with small windows measuring 40 x 40 cm. The main feature of the model, which its name hints at, is the ultrasonic sprayer. A 50 ml tank with a pump is built into the body on the front side. Before entering an area, Hobot sprays fine particles of liquid onto it - this makes it easier to remove dried-on dirt.

Bist Win A100

Tmail

The manufacturer chose a D-shaped case for the Bist Win A100 with a comfortable bracket-shaped handle. The advantage of this design is the high-quality processing of edge zones. Under the bottom of the Bist Win A100 there are two cleaning units: a front vibrating mop that scrubs away dirt, and a stationary contour unit that wipes the glass clean. Rubberized tracks are used for movement. On a vertical surface, Bist Win A100 is held due to the vacuum created under the bottom. A suction force of 2500 Pa is quite enough for reliable suction to the glass. The minimum size of the window to be processed is 40 x 50 cm, the maximum cleaning area is limited only by the length of the safety cord. Orientation in space is performed using 4 tactile sensors installed in the corners of the body. With their help, the robot finds window frames and determines its position. The control is implemented using a remote control.

iBoto Win 289

M Video

The iBoto Win 289 square robot is designed for cleaning any hard surfaces: glass, polished wood and even tiles. With the help of a vacuum motor with a force of 2500 Pa, the washer is thoroughly suctioned to the surface and does not break off when passing through small cracks. In addition, iBoto Win 289 is twice lighter than the Bist Win A100 - only 1.35 kg. It is convenient to move it from window to window when washing the loggia. The cleaning radius is 4.5 meters. Contact processing is performed with one contour mop, which the robot carries under the bottom. To achieve a high-quality result, the napkin must be changed periodically. Angle sensors are used for orientation. The robot recognizes frames and breaks, so it is suitable for cleaning frameless windows. Bist Win A100 moves along the glass along a horizontal and vertical trajectory. You can configure the cleaning algorithm using the remote control or smartphone (Bluetooth connection).

Bobot WIN3060

Aliexpress

A simple and reliable window cleaner from Xiaomi. What distinguishes Bobot WIN3060 from other robots with a square body is its unusual L-shaped handle, which has a touch-sensitive start button built into it. Under the bottom there are tracks, a suction grille with which the Bobot WIN3060 is sucked to the glass, and a stationary mop. The napkin is attached with Velcro. The operating algorithm is classic - the robot systematically moves along the glass, the front part of the mop collects dirt, and the back part wipes the surface clean. There are three operating modes: horizontal and vertical movement, as well as an automatic mode that combines both trajectories. When the power is turned off, the built-in 600 mAh battery lasts for 40 minutes of standby. For additional insurance, a 4-meter rope is used.

Ecovacs Winbot 950

Yandex. Purchases

The flagship window cleaner from the Chinese giant Ecovacs is made in a square shape. One of the main advantages of this robot is the large area of microfiber, which was achieved due to the round cutout, and small corner sensors, which practically do not interfere with the robot cleaning areas along the frames. The robot's tracks are articulated, which allows it to avoid obstacles and clean windows with complex configurations. Another advantage of this design is the ability to change the direction of movement without turning the mop. The disadvantages of the model include its heavy weight (3.3 kg), due to which the robot cannot stay on the glass for more than 15 minutes, although the battery is similar to the Bobot WIN3060 - 600 mAh. You can change directions of movement and switch operating modes using the remote control.

Hobot 388 Ultrasonic

Official shop

Oval robot with advanced floor wetting system. A tank with an ultrasonic sprayer is built into the end of the body - before moving, Hobot 388 Ultrasonic sprays the glass and then runs over it with rotating wipes. The water supply is automatic, alternating between spraying water and rotating the mops. But in addition, the manufacturer has provided an emergency spray button on the remote control, which allows you to more thoroughly wash individual areas of the window. On a vertical surface, Hobot 388 Ultrasonic is held using a suction cup principle (suction holes are located under each rag). The robot's weight is relatively small (915 grams), so the vacuum suction system allows it not only to move freely along the surface of the window, but also to overcome joints and cracks up to 1.5 mm deep. Average cleaning speed – 0.3 sq.m/min.

Xiaomi Hutt DDC55

Aliexpress

Among the robots of its class, Xiaomi Hutt DDC55 stands out for its non-trivial rectangular shape with rounded corners. Cleaning is carried out traditionally - using round mops rotating at a speed of 80 rpm. The washer comes with 6 sets of replaceable rags, allowing you to cover large areas during one cleaning. The safety cord of this model is almost twice as long as its analogues and reaches 8 meters. A distinctive feature of the Xiaomi Hutt DDC55 is that the robot varies the suction force in the range of 2600-3400 Pa, thus changing the downforce: the robot washes heavily soiled surfaces with greater force, and lightly soiled areas with less force. There is also SLAM navigation, which allows you to plan a route without missing a single section. There are three operating algorithms: standard cleaning, left-to-right and right-to-left.

iBoto Win 199

Official mvideo store

A washer with an interesting design solution - the handle is made in the form of a turret. Not very elegant, but functional - inside the “tower” there is a motor that ensures the robot’s suction to the glass. By alternately rotating the mops, iBoto Win 199 collects dirt and systematically moves along the window. The universal design allows the washer to clean any vertical and horizontal surfaces, including display cases, mirrors and countertops. Among the features of the model, it is worth highlighting the intelligent adjustment of suction depending on the degree of surface contamination (the same function as the Xiaomi Hutt DDC55). The cleaning speed is standard for robots of this type - 0.4 sq.m/min. Management is performed through a mobile application. For conservative users, a remote control was included in the box.

REDMOND RV-RW001

Svyaznoy

In appearance, the Russian-Chinese robot REDMOND RV-RW001 resembles the iBoto Win 199 - the same core brush with a round handle. Only the color scheme is black with white inserts, and not vice versa. Another visual difference is the ergonomic inserts made of rough plastic, which reduce the likelihood of the robot slipping out of the hand while moving from window to window. The cleaning principle is traditional - napkins attached to the bottom rotate, removing dry dirt and blurring stains. To properly process heavily soiled glass, you will need 2-3 runs with clean wipes. The battery of this model is mediocre - 500 mAh, but thanks to the robot’s light weight (1 kg), it is enough for backup power for 15 minutes. To prevent damage when falling from a great height, a 4-meter long safety rope is provided.

GENIO WINDY W200

When creating their first washer, GENIO decided not to take risks and completely copied the body shape of the Xiaomi Hutt DDC55 - rectangular with rounded ends and ribbed ergonomic recesses. In functional terms, there are no differences either. Rotating wipes are responsible for cleaning the surface, and a Japanese Nidec motor is used for pressing against the glass. The suction power varies from 2600 to 3400 Pa depending on the degree of contamination. Thanks to the 6-axis gyroscope, WINDY W200 plans the route and leaves no untreated areas. During the cleaning process, the robot prefers Z-shaped passages. In addition to standard modes, manual control is available using an analog joystick or remote control. A 650 mAh battery keeps the robot on the glass for 20 minutes after the power is turned off.

Do robots clean windows efficiently?

The models listed above cope with their task and clean windows well. This is my subjective opinion. But, if you compare the device with human work. So, the robot is inferior at a short distance. After all, a person can see where he missed a spot, whether there are stains left and quickly correct the situation by speeding up the movement of his hand or replacing a dirty rag with a clean one for a better result. Robots do the same work over the entire area, having only one rag installed by the owner. If you don’t like the result the first time, try again, but replace the rags with clean ones and the result will be better. Robots then work from the network, they do not get tired. But a person may get tired and the quality of washing will decrease as a result. Add to this the fear of heights, if you do not live on the first floor and we get the same quality result. Apparently all the cleaning companies I came across work on this principle. Negative experience! You pay money, but you get the same quality because there are too many human factors. That’s why I started using robots, because it’s convenient, safe and saves money over a long period of time.

Write about your operating experience in the comments. I’d be glad to read how your device cleans windows and what difficulties you encountered?
