The best parking sensors with LED display

AAALINE LED-14 INSIDE

Rating: 4.9

The honorary leader of the rating is the AAALINE LED-14 INSIDE parking sensor - a unique iteration of the AVS PS-128U that uses internal sensors to minimize the risk of their failure. The digital indicator has much in common with the above-mentioned model, but has added clarity thanks to small “cosmetic” changes. The number of sensors did not exceed 4, and they are located on the rear bumper.

The scanning distance of the AAALINE LED-14 INSIDE due to the location of the sensors decreased slightly (0.3 - 2.0 meters), but the measurement accuracy increased to 1 centimeter, which is a good result and is suitable for those new to driving. Together with LED and digital displays, a voice warning system is implemented, as well as flexible configuration of touch sensors to adjust the distance relative to protruding body elements. Due to the desire of the developers to reduce the cost of the final product, perhaps the biggest miscalculation was made: namely, the wireless communication system of the receiver and sensors was not implemented. However, this annoying nuance is offset by the high degree of reliability of the device - we are talking about 5-7 years of stable operation.

Advantages

  • internal sensor location system;
  • acceptable cost level;
  • pleasant appearance;
  • the ability to fine-tune sensors;
  • high reliability of the device as a whole.

Flaws

  • lack of wireless connection of working elements.

PARKCITY Ultra Slim

Rating: 4.8

PARKCITY Ultra Slim uses a “lightweight” visual concept that is very pleasant for users, which partly explains its high popularity. The familiar display scale has acquired a rounded shape, and only the central segment with a digital display remains unchanged. The scanning distance in the model is 0.3 - 2.5 meters - quite standard and encountered more than once during our rating.

Only the space behind the car can be monitored using a parking radar, and control is carried out by a standard number of sensors - four. The diameter of each of them is 14 millimeters, but the size of the mounting hole is 18 millimeters. As with the previous two nominees, the bar can be screwed to the ceiling as the digital display supports 180-degree rotation. The cost is low, which is the main advantage in the case of PARKCITY Ultra Slim. In general, the model is interesting, functional and moderately durable, which is why most users love it.

Advantages

  • Possibility of placement on the ceiling;
  • attractive design;
  • good scanning range;
  • favorable combination of price and quality.

Flaws

  • no sound notification.

SteelMate PTS410M8

Rating: 4.7

The third line of the rating goes to...in fact, a complete analogue of the ParkMaster 34-4-A. The only difference is that the model from SteelMate costs about 1 thousand less. The PTS410M8's arsenal includes the ability to rotate the display of indicators to secure the strip to the ceiling, the same spacers to compensate for the angle of the bumper, and even the absence of voice guidance for digital alerts.

The scanning distance of the 4 sensors on the rear bumper here is 0.3 - 2.5 meters with an error of the same 10 centimeters. The stability of operation is high, as is the quality of execution. But self-diagnosis is not announced - perhaps SteelMate was not able to completely copy its competitors. In general, there is nothing more to talk about here: we have already seen everything else, and this descriptive spectacle cannot cause anything other than boredom.

Advantages

  • low purchase price;
  • possibility of hanging the bar from the ceiling (with rotating indicators);
  • wide scanning range;
  • A kit is available for correct installation of sensors in the mounting sockets.

Flaws

  • lack of sensors on the front bumper.

ParkMaster 34-4-A

Rating: 4.6

The essence is the same as AVS PS-128U, ParkMaster 34-4-A is more expensive and has a slightly later release date, and therefore has not yet lost its relevance among consumers. But objective “weaknesses” make themselves felt: firstly, unlike the named competitor, the device can scan only the area behind the car (using 4 sensors), and secondly, the measurement distance is several points shorter.

However, the ParkMaster 34-4-A also has its own unique advantages. This includes the ability to rotate the display to allow the strip to be mounted on the ceiling, a flexible system for setting sensors to trigger, and even self-diagnosis. The sensor kit also has bumper angle compensators that can be inserted and secured in mounting holes with a diameter of 18.8 millimeters. All this and much more forms the final cost of the product at 4.5 thousand rubles (minimum price), quite comfortable for most consumers.

Advantages

  • acceptable cost level;
  • Possibility of attaching the strip to the roof;
  • duplicate digital/indicator board;
  • kit for more flexible installation of sensors (angle compensators, spacers, etc.).

Flaws

  • inability to control the front bumper (compared to competitors).

AVS PS-128U

Rating: 4.5

As often happens, over time, market leaders leave their once occupied positions, giving way to more modern and functional devices due to the notorious obsolescence. Exactly this situation befell the AVS PS-128U parking sensor, which offers users to monitor the situation in front and behind the car. The scanning distance was also at the highest level: from 0.3 to 2.5 meters, without taking into account the accuracy of the measurements.

In parallel with the LED indication, the AVS PS-128U offered only voice notification, which was more than enough for parking in a hectic and hectic environment. Despite the fact that the device still shows excellent results, the hype around it has begun to quickly fade. Especially after the release of the enchanting AAALINE LED-14 INSIDE in every sense - but we will still have time to get to it. Be that as it may, the past remnants of glory play their role, and nothing can cancel the relevance of the PS-128U even at the present time.

Advantages

  • wide scanning range;
  • very low price;
  • visual display of markers for approaching an obstacle.

Flaws

  • a small number of modern options;
  • outdated design and fading popularity.

The best parking sensors with display

AAALINE LCD-18

Rating: 4.9

The undisputed leadership in the rating of parking sensors with a display deserves AAALINE LCD-18 - a device that combines all the principles of notification and adds much greater clarity to them. The color display with four color markers, a digital distance indicator, and blind spot monitoring is recognized by users as the most convenient among its kind. The situation is monitored in front and behind the car thanks to the arrangement of sensors in a “4+4” pattern.

The obstacle detection range of the AAALINE LCD-18 is 2 meters, and the minimum distance to an obstacle is limited to 0.3 meters. This is not bad, even taking into account the 10-centimeter error. In general, of the entire set of advanced technologies, this parking sensor lacks only wireless communication - the number of wires and the need for their careful laying are very annoying. In terms of price and quality, this model fits into the category of the best in the entire segment, and in terms of reliability it is significantly ahead of its closest competitors.

Advantages

  • The optimum ratio of price and quality;
  • obstacle detection distance (0.3 – 2.0 meters);
  • 8 touch sensors included;
  • the presence of “smart” display, blind spot monitoring and voice notification.

Flaws

  • abundance of wires.

ParkMaster 238

Rating: 4.8

Second place in the rating goes to the visually stunning ParkMaster 238 parking sensors, designed in a strict black and white style with a large selection of colors for masking the sensors. It provides the ability to monitor blind spots both front and rear, activating sensors when the brake pedal is pressed or when the car is reversed. The detection and alarm distance is a very modest 0.3 - 1.5 meters. But the accuracy of the measurements is beyond praise: the possible error is only 1 centimeter.

Among the additional functions of the ParkMaster 238, users highlight the presence of self-diagnosis, which in the case of eight sensors is a very useful thing. It’s also good that the visual part received sound accompaniment - all notifications from the device are voiced in a pleasant, non-irritating voice. The quality of work does not cause any complaints, as does the durability of use. The cost in this case also matches expectations, but they tend to vary widely in the retail market.

Advantages

  • The optimum ratio of price and quality;
  • high degree of durability;
  • extremely accurate distance measurement (error does not exceed 1 centimeter);
  • availability of self-diagnosis capabilities.

Flaws

  • abundance of wires.
  • quite modest obstacle detection range.

PARKCITY Paris

Rating: 4.7

An extremely cheap representative of display parking sensors, which until some time occupied exclusively leading positions in various consumer ratings. PARKCITY Paris offers users to monitor the condition of the driveways behind the car through 4 sensors, each of which sends a signal to a dynamic receiver interface. At the same time, the distance for detecting and signaling an obstacle varies from 0.3 to 2.5 meters with an error of 10 centimeters.

The most important advantage of PARKCITY Paris over its competitors is the wireless connection type. Installation is carried out by simply milling seats with a diameter of 18 millimeters on the bumper, as well as subsequent activation of the signal display unit. At the same time, the digital notification here is duplicated by voice commands with the ability to adjust the volume. All control indicators are displayed on a blue field of the display, which also adds clarity and some kind of variety. From a price/quality perspective, this parking sensor is the best offer on the market, although in a number of aspects it is inferior to more complex competitors.

Advantages

  • availability of wireless communication between sensors and receiver;
  • wide range of warnings about approaching obstacles;
  • visual interface;
  • high popularity among consumers;
  • the best device in terms of price and quality ratio.

Flaws

  • allows you to control the situation only behind the car.

TESTS

Test one. "Accuracy".

Obstacle - a panel made of laminated plywood with dimensions of 0.1 × 1.0 m is placed vertically at a distance of 1.0; 0.5 and 0.3 m from the sensors and compare these values with the readings of the parking sensors. First, at an air temperature of 21 ºС. It turned out that the SHO-ME Y-2612Р does not show a distance of less than 0.4 m at all. Maybe this is logical: there is no point in snuggling! The rest coped with the task quite well - with an error of 5–8 cm. At a temperature of -4 ºС, the measurement accuracy remained practically unchanged. Not a bad result.

Test two. "Vigilance".

We mask the target with water mist from a spray bottle. A water cloud hangs in front of the sensor, and the target is gradually brought closer to it. At a distance of 0.5 m from the bumper, all subjects detected a danger and warned about it. But the AVILINE MP-218LCD-Y8 and PARK MASTER 8BJ12 systems responded to it first.

Test three. "Vitality."

Let's cover the sensor with a piece of paper (it will simulate dirt or, for example, an accidentally stuck leaf from a tree) - will it be able to see through the object? Alas, I couldn’t! But parking sensors with self-diagnosis detected a blind sensor - and each warned the owner about this in their own way. Those not equipped with such a function simply did not see the obstacles. Moral of the story: keep your gauges clean. Or rely only on yourself.

Test four. "Fur".

Fur absorbs ultrasonic waves well! A parking sensor with low sensitivity may not see such a target at all. The PARK MASTER 8BJ12 system recognized the danger half a meter away. The others also managed it, but discovered the catch 10 cm “later”. Total 0.4–0.5 m before collision. We think it's acceptable.

Test five. "Stealth".

The target was placed horizontally, deflecting its plane by 45º to reflect the waves upward. The deception was unsuccessful: all subjects easily detected it at a distance of 0.5 m. That’s also not bad.

Test six. "Chamber".

Closed space. It turned out to be not at all easy to drive into a cramped garage in reverse and in the dark, focusing on the instruments. We managed, but in the traditional way - guided by the mirrors and side lights. Here all the parking devices are more or less going crazy, there is no hope for them.

Test seven. "Vis-a-vis."

The sensors of the two systems were placed in two parallel lines, at a distance of 1.0 m. By gradually turning them, false alarms were detected. It turned out that glitches happen to everyone, but the devices almost do not interfere with each other, with the exception of the “eye to eye” position. And the FLASHPOINT FP800Z performed best in this test.

Parkmaster 8-FJ-27 – parking sensors with 8 sensors

Pros *

  • Wide coverage area – eliminates all “blind” spots;
  • adjusting the sensitivity of sensors;
  • increased waterproofing of sensors;
  • fast reaction;
  • easy installation and height adjustment of sensors.

Minuses *

  • high price.

The best parking sensors built into the rearview mirror

sPARK 8M

Rating: 4.9

An overhead parking indicator in the middle price segment, which is a worthy alternative to a standard rear view mirror. The sPARK 8M system provides detection of possible obstacles not only from behind, but also from the front of the car, supporting the installation of sensors according to the “4+4” scheme. Unfortunately, there is no radio module, so you have to go through a lot of trouble with carefully laying wires through the entire interior - fortunately, the reliability of the system allows you to do without replacements and repairs for quite a long time (3-year warranty).

The detection interval of “sPARK” 8M varies from 0.1 to 2.5 meters with a measurement error of up to 10 centimeters. This is the best option for inexperienced drivers who do not feel well the dimensions of the car, but at the same time it is quite “insidious”, since such an error can play a cruel joke. The diameter of each sensor is 21.5 millimeters - a rather non-standard size, but a cutter for making mounting holes is included in the kit. It is also worth mentioning the joint operation of sound and optical warnings, the presence of a sound control and memory for remote elements.

Advantages

  • optimal cost level;
  • long warranty period;
  • sensor installation diagram – 4 front, 4 rear;
  • wide obstacle detection range;
  • availability of sound and optical warning systems.

Flaws

  • there are a lot of connecting wires.

Parkmaster 22-4-A

Rating: 4.8

A parking sensor in the form of a dummy rear-view mirror was included in the rating of the best as the most budget-friendly and affordable option among its peers. According to the established tradition of the Parkmaster company, 22-4-A is produced in various color variations, one way or another suitable for the basic colors of car bodies. Scans the area only from behind, and only at a distance of 0.3 to 1.5 meters. But at the same time it has very accurate calibration of sensors, the measurement error of which does not exceed 1 centimeter.

Among the more specific, but no less pleasant functions of the Parkmaster 22-4-A, users highlight the combined action of digital and voice warning systems, as well as the possibility of self-diagnosis with a warning about the “blade” of one or more sensors. The device is connected by wire, which makes installation quite problematic, but long-term reliability is fine - you don’t have to constantly tinker with wires. As a result, the model cannot boast of outstanding performance parameters, but it does have a couple of top functions. The accuracy of the work also did not let us down, which, combined with the price, is a definite benefit.

Advantages

  • high measurement accuracy (the error is only 1 centimeter);
  • low price per set (varies depending on the color of the sensors);
  • there is a self-diagnosis function;
  • digital and voice notification;
  • high level of reliability.

Flaws

  • small operating range (0.3 – 1.5 meters).

SHO-ME Y-2612N08 – front parking sensors

A good option at an affordable price. Model for 8 sensors with a display that is installed on the dashboard on the driver's side. There is a sound signal and a color scale with a danger warning. The monitor displays the exact distance of the obstacle and its direction. The system is turned on by activating reverse or pressing the brake pedal.

Pros *

  • low price;
  • wide coverage area;
  • operation in temperature conditions from -40 to +85 degrees.

Minuses *

  • an unpleasant sound effect for some (the radar beeps);
  • in severe frosts it may show non-existent interference (according to user reviews).

ParkMaster 22-4-A – the best parking sensors mirror

A unique model whose display is a rear-view mirror. The indication is activated when reverse gear is engaged. If there is an obstacle, a voice and sound notification occurs. The kit includes 4 sensors, and the cost of parking sensors starts from 3,700 rubles.

Pros *

  • false alarm warning function;
  • self-diagnosis;
  • wireless;
  • work in a wide temperature range – from -40 to +85 degrees;
  • convenient display that does not distract from the road.

Minuses *

  • notification is not regulated;
  • not cheap.

CRS-9701L

  • LCD monitor, color
  • Diagonal: 7 inches
  • Resolution: 480 x 234
  • Power supply 12V
  • Video camera with 512x582 pixel matrix
  • Maximum object detection distance: 1.8m
  • Minimum object detection distance: 0.4m
  • Determined distance step: 0.1m

This parking sensor belongs to the radio channel tribe. This means that you don’t have to fuss with wires, running them under the trim so as not to spoil the appearance of the interior. Information from the sensors is transmitted via radio to a color display, which has an impressive 7-inch diagonal for such devices. Moreover, the parking sensors are activated only when reverse gear is engaged - then the display begins to display the image transmitted by the camera at the rear, as well as sensor readings.

In addition to sensor readings and images transmitted from the camera, this model has an additional notification system - sound. And so that parking does not cause inconvenience to the driver even at night, the camera has built-in infrared illumination.

Moreover, a mirror with a rear view camera can be used as a small screen for a DVD player when not parking! To do this, the manufacturer included a remote control in the package. And even if you don’t want to watch movies, a mirror is quite capable of fulfilling the role of... well, a mirror. It also reflects well, and objects in it are not distorted.

Pros : color display, versatility, no wires.

Cons : not easy to find on sale.

How to choose parking sensors

Before making the final choice of parking sensors, it is important to compare the negative and positive aspects of each model. It is important to install the equipment correctly according to the diagram, because if the sensors are placed incorrectly, the radar may show erroneous values. Beginner car enthusiasts are advised to buy the most modern and functional device equipped with a camera.

Optimal performance of a modern parking radar

To be a good assistant to its owner, an optimal parking sensor must have:

  1. Extensive range. An important indicator of effectiveness is the range of the sensors. The optimal distance is at least 2 meters.
  2. High reaction speed. The best parking sensors should quickly warn the owner about the appearance of danger. The best result is considered to be the time of 0.1 seconds from detecting an obstacle by sensors to sending a signal. However, only a few devices can boast such speed.
  3. Weather protection. To make the device last longer, you should choose a model covered with a layer that protects from dust and dirt. Most radars of foreign brands have a self-diagnosis function: they themselves warn the driver that some problems have arisen in their operation and need to be corrected.
  4. Nice design. The device should fit organically into the interior of the car, and the detectors should not spoil the appearance of the car.

Operating principle and types of device

There are three types of parking radars: front, rear and combined. They all have pros and cons, so every car owner must choose the best type for himself.

  1. Rear. Installed on the rear bumper, they are automatically activated when shifting into reverse gear. Identify any obstacle (tree, curb, another car) when reversing. The most popular option, since sometimes it is impossible to park backwards using the mirrors.
  2. Front. The same thing, only the sensors are mounted on the front bumper. They start working when the first gear is turned on, and turn off after accelerating to 20 km/h. It is possible to configure settings so that the signal does not become annoying in traffic jams.
  3. Combined. The best solution for beginners. Installed on the front and rear bumpers: 2 front and 4 rear or 4 pcs. at both sides. The front ones are constantly active or, depending on the settings, can be turned on at a designated time.

Sensors

Another important question when choosing a parking radar is how many sensors need to be installed. Parking systems may include:

  1. 4 sensors: a solution for experienced drivers. You can place 2 pieces at the front and rear, where there are more blind spots. Some people place all 4 sensors on the rear bumper. In most cases, such a system is used as a safety net.
  2. 6 sensors: the best option when comparing price/quality. The number of sensors per bumper follows from the experience of the car owner. Professionals usually place 3 pieces. front and rear; for novice drivers, option 2 front – 4 rear is suitable.
  3. 8 sensors: the most expensive device. 4 sensors are installed on the rear and front bumpers, which gives almost full all-round visibility. An ideal solution for beginners and those who do not know how to park.

Alerts

Depending on the type of warning, parking sensors can be audio, optical or digital. The operating principle of all systems is presented in the table.

SoundOpticDigital
EquipmentBuzzerLED indicators on the panelLarge LCD display
Operating principleWhen approaching an obstacle, the buzzer begins to emit an intermittent sound signal. The shorter the distance, the more frequently the signals will sound. Colored indicators are displayed on a small screen or directly on the rearview mirror, the color indicates the distance to the obstacle: - green: there is no danger; - yellow: obstacle is approaching; — red: the distance is critical. The screen displays a schematic drawing of the car, which shows which side the obstacle is on and at what distance. Usually accompanied by a sound system. The best solution for novice drivers.
MinusesIf music is playing loudly in the car, the driver may not hear the signal and may not have time to react.On a screen that is too small, the driver may not see the signal if he is distracted by something. However, in some systems, audible and optical warnings can work together to save the situation. Expensive system

Camera and display

More modern and expensive models of parking sensors are equipped with a rear view camera. This makes parking very easy, especially for beginners. The signal from the camera is sent either to a separate LCD display installed in the cabin, or directly to the rear view mirror.

The latter option is very convenient: it does not interfere with the aesthetics of the interior and does not distract the driver while driving. A special mirror is installed to replace the base one; it is conventionally divided into 2 parts - one half serves as a monitor, the second as a regular mirror. The image from the camera is broadcast only when reverse gear is engaged; the rest of the time the mirror performs its normal function. A diagram with data is also superimposed on the picture.

Research has shown that parking sensors with a rear view camera are not only convenient, but also significantly reduce the risk of an accident when parking.

Installation methods

Based on the principle of sensor mounting, radars are divided into 2 types:

  1. Invoices. The sensors are glued on top of the bumper using special glue. Simple installation, but it will make the sensors stand out on the car body.
  2. Mortise. The devices are mounted in holes pre-drilled in the bumper. The most popular option, since the sensors are almost invisible, but require serious intervention. If the holes are drilled carelessly, it will be very noticeable.

Models with multi-segment linear indicators

BlackView PS-4.1

Quite simple products, which are characterized by the small dimensions of the presented sensors, and all of them are mortise. In order to correctly install them on the car body, there are appropriate instructions and a special drill that exactly matches the diameter of the sensors themselves. It is well sharpened, so it works well with both plastic and aluminum or galvanized steel. To reliably protect the vehicle body from corrosion processes, there are special rubber rings that also additionally seal the sensor installation location - they will not start to loosen even after driving on a bad road. The wires going from the sensors to the information processing unit are hidden in a corrugation, which will have to be purchased separately.

The display, where basic information regarding the location of obstacles will be displayed, is made in the form of a multi-segment linear scale, in the central part of which you can find a digital indicator. The sensitivity of all available sensors is very high. According to manufacturers, obstacles are detected at a distance of 0.1 to 2.5 meters. In total, there are three modifications of this product on the market, which differ from each other in the appearance of the display, as well as the overall dimensions of the sensors.

Advantages:

  • The sensors are able to detect obstacles over a fairly wide area;
  • You can choose the model that best suits the design of your car's interior;
  • Sound notification can be configured if necessary.

sPARK 4 BiZON

The first domestically produced model included in this review. It is equipped with a special LED indicator that can be installed directly inside the vehicle. However, as manufacturers claim and users confirm, this design can be placed in almost any arbitrary location on the machine due to the presence of an original function that allows you to program the display. The kit includes metal brackets made of stainless steel. The overall dimensions of the indicator are 120x55x25 mm. Four sensors are supplied together with the data processing unit. The sensors are mortise, but they do not create any difficulties during installation. All necessary information is conveyed to the driver through a three-color LED display, which displays data regarding distance indication and direction to obstacles.

The display can be placed on the instrument panel, above the rearview mirror. This device has an interesting Blind Zone monitoring function. It will detect obstacles hidden from the driver's view. This point will be very useful not only during parking, but also while driving. With its help, you can promptly detect interference when changing lanes to an adjacent line. Parktronic has a learning mode that allows the system to be configured within a fairly wide range.

Advantages:

  • Able to work in blind spots;
  • Available in several color options;
  • The kit includes sensors with different directional patterns;
  • Display modes can be customized depending on your own needs.

Flaws:

  • There is no audible indication when working in blind spots.

Many motorists are confused by the need to drill through the bumper when installing parking sensors. If the vehicle is painted in some non-standard color, then there will probably be a need to either put up with the sensor circles that will catch your eye, or have them painted over by specialists. In the manufacture of these products, original technology is used, which involves the internal installation of sensors. At the same time, placing them is quite simple - they will not snap into the drilled holes, they will need to be screwed into the thread of a special platform, which is installed on double-sided tape under the bumper. Nothing will be noticeable from the outside. All sensors have a sensitivity adjustment function.

Thanks largely to this design solution, the sensors will not be damaged even during high-pressure washing. Even with a strong impact, the tape will simply come off the bumper, keeping the device in working order. However, you will have to install this product without removing the bumper, which may cause some inconvenience during the installation process. In addition, its inner surface will have to be washed and degreased. Otherwise, the tape will not hold very securely.

Advantages:

  • The sensors are installed hidden; there is no need to drill into the bumper or body of the car;
  • The sensitivity of each can be adjusted depending on your needs;
  • Compact overall dimensions of the display;
  • Sensors can be placed both at the front and rear of the vehicle.

Flaws:

  • There are certain difficulties during installation.
